Banana Bread Instructions

Step 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2. Butter two bread loaf pans.

Step 3. Cream together the butter and maple syrup until creamy. I use a hand blender for this step.

Step 4. Add in the vanilla and eggs and stir until creamy again.

Step 5. Add in the bananas. It will look curdled and that's ok.

Step 6. In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda and salt and then add into your banana mixture. Only stir until blended through.

Step 7. Pour onto your bread loaf pans and bake for about 25 minutes or until a tester (like a fork or toothpick) inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 8. Let the banana bread cool in the pan for a few minutes before removing.

How To Freeze Banana Bread

If you are going to freeze the banana bread, be sure that it's completely cooled before putting it in the freezer to prevent condensation and ice crystals forming.

Step 1 - Let banana bread completely cool.

Step 2 - Wrap the banana bread in parchment paper.

Step 3 - Wrap the banana bread in cling wrap nice and tight so no air can get in.

Step 4 - Label the banana bread with the date. You can use freezer stickers found here on Amazon.

How Long Can Banana Bread Stay In The Freezer

Banana bread will last for about 5 months in the freezer if wrapped nice and tight. You can also make this same recipe to make and freeze banana bread muffins too.

Feel free to alter this recipe and make it your own by adding chocolate chips, nuts or whatever extras you like.

This is a great banana bread recipe if you are feeding a crowd or have company coming over.

If you have a ton of bananas or know that company is coming in from out of town, make two or three batches to freeze for later.

Tips For Moist Banana Bread

Overripe Bananas: Start with overripe bananas. The riper they are, the sweeter and moister your banana bread will be. Look for bananas with brown spots or fully brown skins.

Proper Flour Measurement: Use a kitchen scale or fluff the flour with a fork before gently spooning it into your measuring cup and leveling it off. This prevents a dry banana bread.

Moisture-Rich Ingredients: Incorporate moisture-rich ingredients like sour cream, yogurt, or buttermilk into your batter. These additions enhance the bread's moistness and texture.

Add Nuts: You can add your favorite nuts or seeds to your banana bread.

Try Brown Sugar: Brown sugar contains molasses, which adds moisture and a deeper flavor to your banana bread.

Don't Overmix: Mix the batter until just combined. Overmixing can overdevelop gluten, resulting in a denser and drier bread.

Baking Time and Temperature: Bake at the correct temperature (usually around 350°F or 175°C) and use a toothpick to check for doneness. Insert it into the center of the bread; if it comes out with a few moist crumbs but no wet batter, it's done.

Banana Mashing: Mash the bananas making sure there are no large lumps. This helps distribute the banana flavor evenly throughout the bread.

Fold in Ingredients: When adding nuts, chocolate chips, or other mix-ins, gently fold them into the batter to avoid overmixing.

Cool Properly: Allow your banana bread to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack. Cooling gradually helps retain moisture.

By following these tips, you'll be on your way to creating a homemade banana bread that's not only moist but also bursting with flavor.

Enjoy the delightful aroma and irresistible taste of your freshly baked banana bread.
