Step 1. Place the beef into a large mixing bowl and break it up a bit.
Step 2. Add in the caramelized onions.
Step 2. Finely mince the garlic and add them to the mixing bowl.

1 1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 cup caramelized onions Learn how to make caramelized onions here
1 clove of garlic, minced
1 tsp. salt & pepper
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup of your favorite bbq sauce
1/4 - 1 cup of breadcrumbs
Place meat into a large bowl.
Add caramelized onions and garlic and blend together by hand.
Add salt, pepper, ketchup, bbq sauce and mix together by hand. The mixture should feel wet.
Add your breadcrumbs a bit at a time and blend with your hands until mixture is no longer wet and you are able to form into balls.
Form meat into hamburger patties and cook on the bbq until internal temperature reaches 160F (around 20-25 minutes).
TIP: Pressing your thumbprint slightlty into your hamburger patties before grilling will help them stay in shape, as they tend to plump up a bit in the middle while cooking
