Let's talk salad. More specifically, salad dressing. Let's face it, unless you dress it, a salad is essentially naked. So dress it up and dress it up good. If you want to dress to impress, a homemade salad dressing is always raved about. We have an authentic Italian salad dressing recipe that is easy and quick to make. You most likely have all of the ingredients in your cupboard right now.
Hi there. Italian girl here. Yep, grew up eating pasta and ending my meal with a seriously fantastic salad. Here is an authentic, Italian salad dressing recipe that I want to share with you today that is just delicious.
Mix all Italian salad dressing ingredients together in a salad dressing mixer. The one you see pictured throughout this article is an OXO salad mixer. It's great because it has a top that can close so it won't spill and you can keep any leftover salad dressing in the fridge in it. (Plus it is a great price) Find it on Amazon here.
Before serving your salad with your homemade Italian salad dressing, have a taste. If the salad dressing is too sour, offset that by adding a bit more white sugar. Same goes if it is too sweet, add some more white vinegar. Tasting as you go is the Italian way.
This Italian salad dressing recipe goes best on a head of iceberg lettuce. Cut it into long, thin strips, wash it in a salad spinner like this one on Amazon by OXO . And make sure the lettuce is dry before dressing it. You don't want to serve a watery salad. Add to the lettuce carrot peels, sliced purple onion, and some celery. To go all the way authentic, serve with a pickled hot pepper on the side real parmesan either in thin slices or use grater. YUM!
