We will also provide a FREE printable mood tracker for every month of the year that you can print and customize with different colors according to your moods.

Colors are often associated with different emotions, so it can be helpful to use them as part of your mood tracking strategy in your color key.

Mood Tracking For Mindfulness

Tracking your mood is an absolutely fantastic way to keep in check with yourself. You can track your emotion of the day each day by color, and look back over your month to see your general disposition.

This is a great way to know why you feel certain ways during certain months and it can give you a great insight as to what makes you feel happy, so you can mindfully do more to work on being happier.

Tracking your mood is a mindful activity that allows you to not only acknowledge your general feeling of the day, it makes you aware of these feelings and this can play a big part in knowing yourself better and how you feel, and what makes you feel certain ways.

What Is A Mood Tracker?

A mood tracker is a tool that you can use to track your moods over time by creating a color key (which identifies your emotions by colors) and coloring in your mood tracker daily.

This can be helpful for gaining insight into your overall emotional state and identifying patterns. If you notice that you tend to have low energy or feel irritable on certain days, for example, tracking this information can help you take steps to address these issues.

How can a mood tracker help you focus?

Mood trackers can be especially helpful for those who are looking to improve their focus and productivity. If you notice that your mood dips on certain days or in the afternoon, for example, you can use this information to adjust your work schedule or find strategies that help you do the things that make you happier; whether it is taking mindful breaks or a walk outside mid day.

It is so much easier to focus when you are feeling your best, emotionally, but to do this, you really need to know what makes you feel down.

How can a mood tracker help you be more mindful?

Mood trackers can also help you become more mindful of your thoughts and feelings. By tracking your moods on a regular basis, you may start to see patterns that you were not aware of before. This newfound awareness can then help you begin to address any negative thoughts or feelings that you may be experiencing so you can start feeling good!

How can you customize a mood tracker with different colors?

Most mood trackers come with spaces to track your moods for a variety of days of the week or month. The mood tracker that you can download for free from DIY Craft Club has the same look for a monthly mood tracker spread, and there are enough for January to December.

You can also customize your mood trackers by assigning different colors for each mood, and you can add as many as you want as long as they fit in the key. A good way to start, is first identify 4 staple moods, like happy, sad, tired and angry. From there, add 2-3 more moods that you personally find that you experience often. Lastly, think of 1 mood that maybe you don't think you don't necessarily experience consciously, but you feel that you may have experienced, like anxious.

What Different Moods Can I Track?

Here are some example moods you may want to consider entering in your mood tracking key:

  • Happy
  • Sad
  • Angry
  • Excited
  • Tired
  • Optimistic
  • Hopeful
  • Anxious
  • Stressed
  • Overwhelmed
  • Calm
  • Loved
  • Grateful

What Colors Are Associated With What Moods?

There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to associating colors with moods and you can fill these in however they speak to you. Remember, what seems intuitive to you will help you identify your general month looking back, for example , if you associate pink with happiness and see mostly pink in the past few months, you can know without looking those were generally happy months.

However, if you are wanting some ideas and guidance, there are some general guidelines that you can follow with color to mood associations:

  • Blue can be associated with calmness and serenity
  • Yellow can be associated with happiness and optimism
  • Green can be calming and soothing
  • Red can be associated with excitement or energy
  • Purple can associated with creativity and spirituality
  • Black can be seen as a symbol of power or luxury

Feel free to use these ideas as a guideline, however, it's important to tailor the colors you use in your mood tracker to your own individual preferences and needs! So choose the colors that are true to you.

What To Color Mood Trackers In With

It is important that this daily activity can be done quickly so you can color it in one minute. If this takes a long time to do, you may tire of doing it, and this is an important thing to do each day, so let's make it easy.

The best medium to color a mood tracker in with is a marker, and a lighter colored marker that is soft tipped will allow for a quick coat of color that is fun and easy to do.

We always use Tombow Dual Brush pens for our mood trackers (we also love them for journaling and cardmaking, these markers are amazing) and what is nice, is that you can purchase them in a color pack of your choosing, such as pastels, bohemian, celebration, cottage, galaxy and more.
