Junk Journal Page Idea | Plus Video Tutorial [2024]

This is an idea for you to use in your junk journals using old picture mats for create a window. 

These matts came from a thrift store so some of the picture mats were pretty banged up and dirty, but they came in a whole bundle. Most of them were in pretty good shape though.

You can easily draw some floral doodles onto the mats. If you want to try this, we have a ton of doodle ideas right here. So don't worry if you don't have any ideas, you can copy the ones on this crafting blog.

Here's a simple floral drawing that was colored onto this mat. You can also go ahead and coffee stain it to give it a vintage look.

We have a great coffee stained paper tutorial. From experience, the Sakura Micron pens will slightly change color and have a tiny bit of bleeding if you dip the mats into coffee first.

Always do a test page before going ahead with your project. If you want clean lines then coffee stain first and then draw your design after it's dry.

Here's a journal that is almost completed, it's actually a five-year planner that is being made into a junk journal. Here's the page that is in the video above.

You can also stamp some lines into the window and use it as a table of contents for a junk journal.

That's one of the beautiful things about making junk journals: there are no right or wrong ways of doing anything, it is all about experimenting. If you don't like something, just change it with a few junk journal supplies that you have on hand.

The lace came from the thrift store too and is perfect to show off the vintage style.
