Hey friends! As I am watching fall slowly turn into winter, I know that the end of the year is coming. That means one special thing for me: new. planner. planning!!! (It's a thing). It's that time of the year where I start to go through my planning supplies and make a list of things that I would like to have and things that are needed to make planning easier (and more fun!). I think about what I want in the context of stickers, decorative tools, and even which planners I would like for the new year. It's exciting! The mere thought of starting a new planner makes me so happy! Plus, I'm in desperate need of some new planners because we are starting to work on a TON of projects for next year. So, let's go through my reflections and thoughts together, and maybe this will help you in making your own decisions!
I have quite a few planners and bullet journals in my stash, and I use three on a daily basis. One is for all of the upcoming tutorials that I have planned, then another with monthly, weekly and daily spreads for my day-to-day stuff. And then I have a third one for scribbles and random notes. This is more of a junk planner because in my regular planners, I like to keep everything pretty and organized.
I know many of you are also starting your search for the best planners and products to use right now too! I thought today would be a great day to go through some supplies and let you know what I love to use.
This gift guide has some of my favorite things that I've been using for a long time as well as some new products that I have found or have been trying out. I'll keep this list updated for you so you can come back here to find the best planner products and gift ideas for that person you know who loves to be organized and plan out everything.
Planning is such a personal thing and I know that it's easy to be overwhelmed so I broke this list down into four groups to help make it a bit easier to choose your planning products.
There is a big difference between a planner and a bullet journal. A planner has calendar layouts already printed, so they are ready for your notes right away. A bullet journal has dotted grid pages that allow you to make your own calendar layouts and monthly spreads, habit trackers, etc, from scratch. See our post What Is A Bullet Journal.
This luxury planner has a beautiful rose gold soft cover made from animal-friendly leather, and it has a lot of artwork & affirmations. This planner is great for entrepreneurs, professionals, college students and everyone who has a burning desire to turn dreams into reality.
The design of this planner is based on studies that are proven to increase productivity & happiness. It features a vision board to help you stay focused, morning & evening power questions, mind maps, reflection pages, habit trackers, back pocket, gratitude journal and more. So if you like everything ready to go, it's all in here.
This planner is for those who like to stay totally focused on goal-setting and day-to-day planning. Did I mention that this deluxe planner comes with planner stickers? Love!
This is a one year planner starting January 2019 to December 2019. You can choose a 5x8 or 8.5x11 inch so it is perfect for either on the go planning, or a desktop planner. This planner features 12 months of monthly and weekly pages for easy year-round planning. The durable soft faux leather cover is environmentally friendly and has a soft touch, with a simple and elegant design. Each monthly spread contains an overview of the month and a notes section. We love their customer service! You get lifetime support and if you have any quality issues, they will get back to you very quickly.
Scribbles That Matter B5 Bullet Planner (My personal favorite!)
Scribbles That Matter has a new B5 bullet planner. The positive reviews keep pouring in and no wonder! The journaling community has been asking for this for I don't know how long. Thanks for listening to everyone who was begging for a larger planner! This is the bullet journal that I keep all of my main spreads in. It has more than enough room to plan out your budgets, household, work, trackers, planning spreads, everything.
If I had to describe the paper, it's buttery and soft. The way the markers and pens glide onto the paper is quite dreamy! I don't know what can possibly convince me to use anything other than this B5 for my main planning. It has an expandable pocket at the back and three-page markers. It's thread bound so it will lay perfectly flat.
I chose another Lemome product because I just love these natural cork covers. It feels soft and supple to the touch like leather, but it is 100% cruelty-free and so much better for the environment. Great gift for any vegan. This bullet journal is also thread-bound so it will lay perfectly flat. Lemome really steps it up when it comes to their papers in their journals, they use high quality, acid-free writing papers, which are environmentally friendly, recyclable, pollution-free, and the color of the paper is easy on the eyes.
There are a few staples when it comes to pens and markers so I'm going to share the ones that I use on a regular basis There are quite a few pens and markers to choose from and I know it can be overwhelming at times, but these four choices are the ones that are compatible with most bullet journals and planners. The best pens and markers are ones that write smoothly and leave very minimal ghosting on the other sides of the pages which is extremely important!
The Sakura Microns are known for their smooth and crisp ink lines. They are used for fine details when drawing doodles and writing. They don't smear and they last a long time before running out of ink. You can purchase them in a pack but I find that I use the 03 and 05 sizes the most. These leave very minimal ghosting on the other sides of the paper so they are great for notes and also linework for doodles.
White Gelly Rolls are just one those classic basics that we all have in our pen supplies. They are opaque and are for dark papers and for writing on dark-colored washi tape. What I like to do is color in a header with a dark or black marker and then go over that with my white Gelly Roll. Gelly Rolls come in many different colors but if this is your first time buying them as a gift for your planner addict, I highly suggest grabbing the white pens.
Another staple which makes a great gift idea. These brush pens are for fine art, brush lettering, faux calligraphy, illustrations, watercolor illustrations, journaling and more! Brush pens are flexible so they create medium or bold strokes by changing brush pressure. This set is non-toxic and the tips are self-cleaning after you use them for blending. Just a great marker set for anyone who loves to plan, color and doodle. I use the sets that we have here every day. We have a ton of these but for starters this set below is perfect.
Ever since I did a review on these markers, I've really fallen for them! What I love about the Sharpie Paint Makers is that they are bold and bright and leave barely any ghosting on the other side of the paper. The water-based markers are good to use on paper because they dry very quickly. Check out the full review on these markers.
This was such a hard decision! Oh, I have a bit of a sticker and washi obsession so narrowing this down to four choices was extremely difficult! If you have only seen how many sticker collections I have you would understand! So these are my four choices for you to consider. I have two planner sticker packs that I think would be a good start and then also two washi sets that I've ordered before and really love.
This set comes with 390 stickers and includes vacation, travel, weekend and birthday/party-themed stickers. This brightly colored sticker pack also includes a good variety of hand-drawn elements and trendy icons like cacti, donuts, unicorns and much more. There's a ton of goal setting, deadline filling in and don't forget stickers which I like. Overall, this set has a great variety.
This is an incredible set for a great price. You get more than 1800 stickers! These stickers are printed with vivid colors & designs. The clear stickers feature a variety of themes, including flowers, food, happy life, popular emojis, cute kittens & flowers, inspirational words, offering a great selection to use all year round. If you like decorative elements, this set is for you. I'm actually freaking out a bit about this set! I'm going to try to get a collab going with this company and get some for our craft box giveaways.
Anything that has gold foil has me running to the checkout. This set of washi is elegant and dreamy! It's designed with harmonized colors and patterns and comes in a pack of 10. This set is extra long (33 feet) so you will have lots of tape for decorating your planners & bullet journals. This makes a great gift for planner addicts.
I like this set a lot because the washi tape is only 3mm wide (very narrow) so they are perfect for borders. It's super easy to highlight those important dates in your planners and bullet journals. You get a good variety of designs and elements in this pack too, it comes with 32 rolls of a nice mix of geometrics, shapes, and patterns.
Here are some of my favorite planning accessories that I like to use in my planners.
Love this set because it comes in 60 pieces in a beautiful rose gold color! The designs are very elegant and attractive. This set comes with 3 different sizes and styles so they can be used on many different places in your planners and bullet journals. They come in a little container so that you can keep everything organized.
And finally to keep all of your planning haul together, here is a storage case by Me & My Big Ideas. This case has lots of room and pockets to hold your planner's pens, washi, and accessories all together. Perfect for when you are on the go. This carrying case is 11.9 x 10.2 x 3.2 inches so there is plenty of room.
I hope you found some great gift ideas for that planner addict in your life! Please Pin our article to your Pinterest boards if you found it helpful.
